On Nov. 30, the celebratory worthy 10th MegaHobby, MegaHobby Expo 2013 Autumn, was held at Akihabara UDX, which is located a short walk from Akihabara Station.
The predecessor to MegaHobby was an exhibition for those in the industry, but with the first MegaHobby held five years ago, attendance was expanded to include everyone. Each time the event has been held, it has gotten bigger and bigger.
Inside the venue, a countless number of figures were on display. There was also a large number of people, and it took the better part of a day to fully see everything. Throngs of fans holding cameras piled in front of figures on display for the first time and prototype figures still being developed. In the selling area, products limited to the event sold out in a flash.
The event stage also attracted a crowd of people. At the event “Excellent Model 10th Anniversary Product Survey” for the popular figure series Excellent Model, the results of a previous online survey asking fans which figure they should make next were announced. Roughly 200,000 people answered the survey. The top four characters from the survey will be made into characters. This includes Cure Beat from Sweet PreCure who came in first.
Other areas of MegaHobby Expo 2013 Autumn included a card game tournament area, a live recording of a radio show, and an area looking back on the history of MegaHobby.
