Dwango and Niwango are currently holding a collaborative contest with Weekly Shonen Jump called “Shonen Jump Still Image MAD Contest.” Submissions to the contest began being accepted on Niconico on Dec. 2. The theme of this MAD contest is the two popular works Shokugeki no Soma and World Trigger which are both currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. Niconico is accepting videos that combine music with still images like manga panels.

For the contest, creators upload their own videos, and they are then recommended by other users. It’s possible to enter the contest with not just new uploads, but past uploads as well even if they aren’t themed after Shokugeki no Soma or World Trigger. Entries will be accepted until Jan. 6, whereafter they will undergo the first round of judging. The results will then be announced at the beginning of February and the second round of judging will begin. The Grand Prix winners will be announced in April. Even though the contest is titled a MAD contest, licensed fanart is also being accepted, so now is the time to take the challenge and enter.

In addition to being published on the official site for Weekly Shonen Jump, the creators of Grand Prix works will also have the chance to create official MAD videos for the editorial department of Weekly Shonen Jump. Another surprising perk is that they will be given signed volumes of the manga that span the entire series. The Grand Prix winner in the Shokugeki no Soma category will also be given a “Enjoy Yūto Tsukuda’s and Jun Saeki’s Recommended Lip-Smacking A5-Rank Cow High-Grade Yakiniku Ticket” that entitles them to dine and have a friendly chat with authors Yūto Tsukuda and Jun Saeki. The winner in the World Trigger category will receive a pen tablet signed by author Daisuke Ashihara.
