TOM Special Creator Sinitar is an extremely talented, strategic, and intelligent cosplayer from Ukraine. Having founded the cosplay team Overpowered, he has a strong presence in Ukraine at cosplay conventions for his powerful, bold, and passionate cosplay of tough, hardcore characters. His dedication to each roll is truly inspiring, spending time on not only the costume, but also his own body, chiseling it into incredible shape for characters such as Gray from Fairy Tail and Testament from Guilty Gear. We had an honor of interviewing Sinitar and learning more about his zeal for cosplay and what it is like cosplaying in Ukraine.

TOM: Why did you begin cosplaying?
Sinitar: On the one hand - like all others, I suppose. I wanted to bring some of my favourite characters to life. On the other hand - I've realized, that my love for anime and games should not end just at watching and gaming. Cosplay was a great chance to grow just a hobby to something professional.
TOM: How do you choose who to cosplay?
Sinitar: The first step is that I must like this character a lot and, of course, I must have seen the anime or played the game. I never cosplay characters just because "he's cool.” The second step is that I must resemble him in lineament, height, and constitution. I spent about two years going to the gym before I could finally cosplay Gray from Fairy Tail, Testament from Guilty Gear, or Dante from DMC3 (photo shoot coming soon :) ).
TOM: Could you tell us about your cosplay group Overpowered and why you founded it?
Sinitar: With pleasure :) Everything is simple here - I just wanted to find a few people with the same views of cosplay as I have. And I found them :) My team and cosplay gave me the best friends and my beautiful girlfriend.
TOM: What is the cosplay culture like in Ukraine?
Sinitar: It's only growing now, and cosplay conventions are popularized not so much as in Japan or USA, for example, but it's growing very fast, and one of the best things is that our cosplayers also grow with each year and month.
TOM: What advice do you have for aspiring cosplayers?
Sinitar: Not to fear! Your work won't be able to satisfy all in total. But even if your cosplay appears not as good as you expected, don't worry, just finish it next time and do the next cosplay even better. Each time you want to cosplay some character, try to do the work perfect, better than anyone!
TOM: What was your favorite cosplay to do?
Sinitar: I can say that all my cosplay is my favorite :) But the warmest memories I have are of Gunji at the moment, the first one I did with a team. My most liked characters are Dante from DMC and Portgas D. Ace from One Piece - hope I will do him in future.
TOM: What cosplay would you like to do in the future?
Sinitar: My recent plans are the League of Legends, Dragon Age 2, Fairy Tail (another character after Gray) and some of the characters from Disney films. Our team project is a little secret until we'll show it at a convention in spring 2014.
TOM: What are you most particular about when you cosplay?
Sinitar: First of all, I do it for myself and my friends - to feel my favorite character. Not to be like him - to be him. Secondly, I want to give some joy to people that like the characters I cosplay as when I go to a convention or do a photo shoot.
TOM: Is there a location you dream to have a cosplay photo shoot at?
Sinitar: Japan, China, and Finland. There are so many unique places there.
TOM: What would you like to say to your worldwide fans on TOM?
Sinitar: I'm really happy to know that my cosplay can be showed not only in Ukraine. Thanks for appreciating my cosplay; I'll make only better and harder works in the future. :)
