The popular voice actors New Young (Masaya Onosaka), Crazy Yu (Yu Kobayashi), and Dancing Yukari (Yukari Goto) formed Emergency, an ADM unit that rearranges anime songs in an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) fashion, and on Sept. 25, they released a cover album titled ADM - Anime Dance Music Produced by tkrism. The acronym ADM comes from combining the first letter of “anison” with EDM.
The album was produced by an up-and-coming creator named tkrism who recreated numerous well-known anime songs in EDM-fashioned aggressive up-tempo versions. It is an original cover album featuring new and classic anime songs, such as “Tamashii no Refrain” from Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth; “Pandemic!”, the opening theme of the TV anime Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san; and “Hohoemi no Bakudan” from the TV anime YuYu Hakusho in EDM.
This project started from Emergency’s desire that “listeners would merely enjoy it as a performance. We would like this to become a bridge between fans of dance music and anime songs.” In the future, they will continue to adopt challenges and songs that would make anison-maniacs broadly grin. The members all have ambitious hopes from their activity: “After listening to the songs their parents’ generation listened to, we want the young generation to watch the anime. They also want to “create a chance for overseas users to find out about the original anime.”
Moreover, music goes without saying, but they are also putting efforts into fashion. Onosaka has his whole body illuminated down to his heart and back, while Kobayashi and Goto are equipped with scouters. They are very motivated: “We want to surprise listeners throughout the world by expressing anime-style uniqueness with edgy fashion.”
In the future, the members will sing original songs made by producer tkr. Since the members are anime voice actors and specialize in anime song covers, could it be that someday Emergency’s songs will be used as theme songs in anime?! It is possible. Let’s keep our eyes open to see how things progress.
