On July 28, MF Bunko J, a popular light novel label that Media Factory is proud of, sent out big news. During MF Bunko J’s Summer School Festival 2013 held in Akihabara, Tokyo, it was announced that five popular titles from the label are becoming anime.
Media Factory has made huge announcements at previous events, so fans’ expectations were high. The five novels announced simultaneously to be made into anime are: Dragonar Academy (author: Shiki MIzuchi / illustrator: Kohada Shimesaba), Madan no Ō to Vanadis (author: Tsukasa Kawaguchi / illustrator: Yoshi O), Magical Warfare (author: Hisashi Suzuki / illustrator: Lia Luna), No Game No Life (author and illustrator: Yū Kamiya), and Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance (author: Yū Shimizu / illustrator: Hanpen Sakura). This was a surprise that surpassed all expectations.
The announcement was made during the “MF Bunko J Radio Alive!! Live Recording Stage” event held at Akihabara UDX as a part of the Summer School Festival 2013. Many fans and members of the press flowed into the venue for the event. The venue reached a boiling point and loud cheers erupted from the crowd when these anime were announced. The crowd heated up more and more with the promotional videos screened for each anime. At the same time the anime were announced, special shopping bags were given out to those in attendance. The shopping area was also colored with showy decorations celebrating the announcement. The power of fans’ enthusiasm for these anime projects could be easily felt.
Each work announced to be becoming an anime is a popular MF Bunko J title, and each one has strong fantasy elements. More detailed information on these anime – such as the staff, cast, and when they will be released – has not yet been announced, but expect to hear more news on these in the near future.
