Otaku Girls Choose! 10 Anime Otaku Girls Want to Watch with Boys [1 of 3]

10 Anime Masterpieces to Watch with Boys

When watching anime, most people usually face the TV alone and enjoy them on their own. However, since the number of anime and those who watch it are growing, wouldn’t it be nice to have other ways to enjoy anime? There are as many ways of enjoying anime as there are people!

So, today, we interviewed some otaku girls who love anime about what anime they would like to watch with boys and how to enjoy it with them (their wishes are included big time). We asked them to decide on the “10 Anime Otaku Girls Want to Watch with Boys.”

Today, we have two otaku girls with us.

Sometimes she is a cosplayer, and she also acted as a member of the advancement committee for Anime Mirai 2012. Other times, she is “the sweet PR flapping her wings to the world” of Seikaisha, but in reality, she is none other than the sweet otaku girl brimming with fighting power, “Misamisa” aka Misako Ochiai!

She is second to no one when it comes to writing otaku articles on Kai-You.net, and lately, she is focusing solely on being a Love Liver 1. Our second guest is the person with the most otaku and girl power in the editorial department, “Sattomii” aka Satomi Takahashi!

Misamisa received special education from her anime otaku father ever since she was a child, and she confidently says, “I learned almost everything important from anime.” On the other hand, Sattomii was awakened when she came in contact with anime in the summer vacation before her school entrance exam. To this day, they have acquired such otaku power that they unconsciously cite from anime even in daily conversations.

Today, we asked these two otaku girls to speak their minds, pile arguments, and choose the anime they would like to watch with boys.

The anime they want to watch with boys are as follows!

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
*Kare Kano*
*Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex*
*Eureka Seven*
*Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion*
*Steins;Gate*
*Gurren Lagann*
*The Girl Who Leapt Through Time*
*Toradora!*
*Nichijou*

After two hours of talking, they finally decided on the above 10 titles!

Here, they evaluate each of the works on a scale of 10, with “★” being “I want to watch it with my boyfriend!” and “☆” expressing the degree of “I want to watch it with guy friends!”. Well then, let’s see the results while extracting parts of their argument.

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Boyfriend! ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ Guy friends!

Misamisa: Even if your partner usually doesn’t watch anime, this is a work that you can enjoy together. You can recommend it to anyone, you can’t miss with this.

Sattomii: Yeah. I think Anohaha has a really wide range. Although the main characters are Menma and Jintan, it also properly depicts the other characters’ thoughts, and somehow it can induce empathy in people.

Misamisa: And I want to cry together (laughs). And you can also go on a pilgrimage to Chippu after watching it. Also, 10 years ago we were very attracted to the ending song “Secret Base,” as it is linked to the time our generation was in middle or high school.

Sattomii: That song was sneaky! In a good way, of course. I felt like I lost to it (laughs).

Kare Kano
Boyfriend! ★★★★★★★★★☆ Guy friends!

Sattomii: Misamisa highly recommends Kare Kano.

Misamisa: How about it, is it too heavy...?

Sattomii: Well, if I had to say, I think it’s pretty heavy (laughs). But it’s fine.

Misamisa: I love Kare Kano so much that I can’t even remember how many times I watched the anime or re-read the manga. Watching this with someone means sharing my philosophy of love, in a way like, “Dating me is something like this, what do you think?”

Sattomii: I see (laughs). I think that at some point, everyone thinks at least once about what it would be like to go out with someone, and Kare Kano depicts that and gives an answer in some sense. I only watched the anime, and it ended in such a way that I must read the original manga.

Misamisa: By all means, do read it!
