“Oreimo” Season 2, Episode 13 Recap: “Little Sisters Can’t Fall in Love with Their Older Brothers”

Eight years ago. When Kyosuke returns home, Kirino comes running, crying. She holds out a broken doll in both hands, and Kyosuke, smiling and full of confidence, begins to fix it. Kirino stares on, seemingly worried, but it is easily fixed as usual. Kirino longs for how her brother was back in those days...
(from the official episode guide)

Usually, Kyosuke is the one who properly shows the bond he has with Kirino, but this time, we get to see from Kirino’s point of view how she views her brother. In the past, Kyosuke was a boy who tried his best at everything and seemed like he could do anything: This is the brother that Kirino loves. While putting in great effort to be like her brother, the years passed, and before she knew it, Kyosuke became a different person; he became lazy. This is the reason why Kirino began acting cold toward him. She felt let down, even betrayed by his change in character, as if everything she had strived for was for nothing. However, Kyosuke still wants to protect his little sister as evidenced by his recent actions. Taking this into account, Kirino again realizes that he is still the Kyosuke that she loved from when they were kids.

This episode marks the end of the TV broadcast. The remaining episodes (14-16) will be released online in August, so don’t miss them. Make sure to see how the bonds between these two siblings develop until the very end!
