The jacket illustration of the pre-order exclusive limited edition of Mayu Watanabe’s fourth single “Rappa Renshuchu” was decided by a contest via the popular Japanese illustration site, Pixiv. The single will release on July 10.
The “Mayu Watanabe 4th Single Celebratory Release Illustration Contest ~Your Illustration Can Become the Jacket Art of Mayuyu’s New Single~” accepted submissions with an amusement park theme. In only three weeks, from April 26 to May 15, over 1,200 illustrations were submitted.
Mayu looked over each submission herself and selected the winner. Through a tough evaluation process, one artist was chosen as the grand winner for the CD jacket art and 13 artists were chosen as honorable mentions. All 14 illustrations will be printed in an illustration booklet included in the single.
On Miyoro’s winning illustration, Mayu commented, “Generally speaking, it is extremely cute and just with a glance, I liked it. Up to the illustration’s touches and color scheme, everything is absolutely magnificent!! It’s certainly the appropriate illustration for being the grand winner!” She also sent out a message to the fans who submitted works: “I’m truly thankful for the over 1,200 works that were submitted despite such a short period of time!! Coming across the many charming works overflowing with individuality was a blessing ♪.”
“Rappa Renshuchu,” which was announced as a collaborative song with OreSkaBand just the other day, was announced to also become a tie-up song for the summer limited event “Rescue Mayuyu From Prison Amusement Park in Tokyo Dome City Attractions” to be held from July 27 to Sept. 23. The event is being managed by the Real Escape Game company Scrap, and this will be the first time an existing idol is selected as the main character.
Look forward to the finished product to see how the illustration project of Mayuyu jumping from 2D to 3D will be implemented on the CD package.
