Third Part of Stage Play for “Yowamushi Pedal” Will Cover Inter High School Vol.

The newest stage play for Yowamushi Pedal, a popular manga currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion (published by Akita Publishing), will be performed this summer. This third play for the series, titled “Yowamushi Pedal Inter High School Vol. The First Result,” will be performed at Tokyo’s Sunshine Theater and Osaka’s Theater Brava. The play will run from Aug. 24 to Sept. 1 in Tokyo and from Sept. 7-8 in Osaka.

Performers for the play include many returning cast members from previous parts such as Ryota Murai (Onoda Sakamichi) and Masashi Ohyama (Tadokoro Jin). Other cast members include Motohiro Ota (Imaizumi Shunsuke), Yuki Torigoe (Naruko Shokichi), Naoya Gomoto (Kinjou Shingo), Eiji Takigawa (Hukutomi Juichi), Hiroki Suzuki (Arakita Yasutomo), Shuuto Miyazaki (Shinkai Hayato), Takuya Kawaharada (Izumida Toichiro), Keisuke Ueda (Manami Sangaku), and Mitsu Murata (Midosuji Akira). Additional cast is expected to be announced on the official site soon. The play is being directed and written by playwright Shatner Nisida, and Manzo, who is widely active in anime songs, will be in charge of the music.

Yowamushi Pedal is a big hit with over 4.5 million copies in print and it has received high praise, including being ranked on the Best 10 list of the “This Manga is Amazing 2010” ranking. A TV anime for the series has been greenlit and the work is crossing over into various media and picking up momentum.

Reserved seating for the play costs 6,500 yen, and premium tickets, which come with a pamphlet, costs 9,500 yen. Furthermore, premium tickets can only be purchased in advance. Advance sales are running now until June 23. Pre-order sales will then run from June 24-30, with general sales beginning thereafter on July 7.

Story:
Onoda Sakamichi, a boy who likes manga and who is a beginner when it comes to road racing, joins the Souhoku High School Bicycle Racing Club, which is spearheaded by Kinjou Shingo, and begins participating in inter high school races. The first time he steps on stage, he can feel the pressure as a member of the team, but he has the determination to fulfill the duty assigned to him. Amid formidable opponents like the King of Hakonegaku Academy and the ominous dark horse Midosuji Akira, the inter high school race begins. However, something unexpected befalls Sakamichi, and the race develops into something unpredictable...
