The second season of Senyu as well as a Senyu marathon have been announced to broadcast on TV Tokyo. The “Senyu Marathon Broadcast Special” will air on May 23 and May 30 from 3:35 - 4:05 a.m. The marathon will be split into two weeks, but all thirteen episodes released this year from January until April will be aired.
The Senyu anime is an adaptation of Robinson Haruhara’s ongoing web manga. In 2012, it began serializing on Nico Nico Seiga. The series has been viewed over 15 million times and has received over 500 thousand comments. It’s become quite a hot topic within the anime and webcomic communities. Chapter 3 of Senyu is currently ongoing. The manga is also serialized in Shueisha’s Jump SQ, and the first individual volume is now available.
Nowadays, manga beginning online are far from few. However, Senyu is an unusual case in that communication between users is what sparked its birth from the lively Nico Nico Seiga. Such a work being televised on a major network, and what’s more being broadcast all at once, makes one feel the development of the current trend.
Yutaka Yamamoto, who directed the first Senyu anime and is currently working on Miyakawa-ke no Kuufuku, will also direct the second season. The wonderful cast including Hiro Shimono as the main character Alba, as well as Yuichi Nakamura, Ai Kayano, and Jouji Nakata, also has fans excited.
The fan appreciation event “Senyu Fes” will be held on August 31. Appearances include director Yutaka Yamamoto and Hiro Shimono.
