On Jan. 8, through its online news channel Pokémon Direct, Nintendo announced that the newest games in the Pokémon series, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, will be releasing simultaneously worldwide this October on the Nintendo 3DS. This will be the first time in the history of the series that a game will be released simultaneously in markets worldwide. Pokémon is a worldwide phenomenon. The series has been released in seven languages (Japanese, English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, and Korean) across 70 countries. To date, the series has sold more than 168 million games.
The previous games in the series Pokémon Black and Pokémon White have sold 5.5 million copies in Japan alone and over 15 million copies worldwide. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are entirely new works that are set in a new world and feature new Pokémon.
The world is waiting for the release of these games. Check back often to keep up to date on the latest news news. October is still a way off, so why not tide yourself over by watching the promotional video on YouTube?
