Mattsun Makes Unbelievably Cool Latte Art for TokyoOtakuMode! [1/3]

For the recent American presidential election, latte art of President Obama and presidential candidate Mitt Romney was featured on the Huffington Post, a popular internet newspaper. The article happened to be sourced from a TokyoOtakuMode (TOM) latte art post by Mattsun, a very talented special creator for TOM. Mattsun has already gained recognition in Japan as a latte art artist and has appeared on television. Some of his previous work, including Dragon Ball themed latte art, has also been featured on the Huffington Post. Mattsun recently came to the TOM offices and did a live demonstration of his intricate latte art sketching process; his technique was unbelievable! He is a very cool guy!

Mattsun actually doesn’t work in a cafe, but in a special members-only bar in Osaka. On many occasions the kind of latte art he creates is dependant upon the request of drunk guests who want to entertain their girlfriends. According to Mattsun however, the main stage for latte artists are independent events and competitions at street stalls. Of course, latte art is also being done in cafes around the world, and each barista fulfills requests in his or her individual style. It is in this environment that Mattsun’s pride in his craft can truly be seen. In short he said, “Even if the request is simple, it is still difficult because I want to go beyond the customer’s expectations!”

Let’s take a good look at Mattsun’s exquisite skills!
