Even just hearing Menma’s name might tug on your heartstrings since Anohana’s release in 2011 and its 2013 film. She and the rest of the cast were designed by the wildly talented character designer and animator Masayoshi Tanaka!

He was also in charge of the characters for The Anthem of the Heart, another unforgettably beautiful work which reunited the staff behind Anohana and introduced us to the sweet Jun Naruse! She may not have had a friend like Menma to help her through her problems, but she’s also strong and ridiculously lovable.

Masayoshi illustrated stunning canvas artworks for each of these characters, so if you’re ready to feel those feels again, you have to check them out!

Menma’s surrounds her in beautiful blue and purple flowers while Jun’s has her holding the (troublesome) Fairy Egg with gorgeous green leaves blowing around her. They look incredible next to each other, too, and each even has Masayoshi’s autograph in the corner!
